Continuous CF/PEEK Pultruded Rod

PEEK (polyether ether ketone) as a high-performance thermoplastic resin has excellent comprehensive properties, especially after continuous...

CF/PEEK thermoplastic carbon fiber composites are generally dominated by satin weaves. The large gaps between the satin weave patterns and staggered layers are more conducive to the impregnation or infiltration of PEEK adhesive. PEEK material has poor fluidity and fast cooling and solidification speed. Therefore, the infiltration difficulty of carbon fiber composites is much higher than that of epoxy-based carbon fiber composites. Compared with ordinary epoxy-based carbon fiber composites, PEEK-based carbon fiber composites have superior performance and solve many problems existing in epoxy-based composites. They are currently widely used in the medical and military industries.

CF/PEEK Performance Advantages

1. Good Elongation at Break and Fracture Toughness

PEEK, as a representative high-performance thermoplastic polymer, has a fracture toughness of up to 2.0 KJ/m, which is 20 times that of epoxy resin.

2. Excellent Delamination Resistance and Fatigue Resistance

PEEK has good impact resistance; it is one of the heat-resistant resins with better impact resistance. At the same time, PEEK has high rigidity, good dimensional stability, a low linear expansion coefficient, and excellent long-term creep resistance and fatigue resistance.

3. Excellent Chemical Corrosion Resistance

PEEK has excellent chemical corrosion resistance, with strong resistance to acids, alkalis, and almost all organic solvents. It is only corroded by halogens and strong acids at high temperatures, and at room temperature, it only dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid.

4. Excellent Heat and Moisture Resistance

PEEK has low moisture absorption and good heat and moisture resistance, maintaining good mechanical properties even under high temperature and high humidity. In addition, it has outstanding hydrolysis resistance, low moisture absorption and permeability, and resistance to steam, water, and seawater.

5. Excellent Sliding Wear and Fretting Wear

PEEK can maintain high wear resistance and a low friction coefficient at 250°C.

6. Biocompatibility

Studies have shown that short carbon fiber reinforced PEEK implanted as a prosthetic material in animals has low cytotoxicity, meets the cytotoxicity indicators for medical implant materials, and has good blood compatibility and tissue compatibility.

7. X-ray Transparency

PEEK has good radiolucency and does not produce artifacts like metal implants under X-ray or CT examination, facilitating patient medical examinations.
