PEKK polyetherketoneketone 3D printing filament
PEKK Polyetherketoneketone Introduction:
PEKK polyetherketoneketone is a special engineering plastic with excellent performance, excellent mechanical properties, high temperature resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance. It is used in aerospace, industrial fields, medical and health, electronic and electrical fields. Some parts of Boeing’s Starliner space capsule are made of polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) 3D printing.
The English name of polyetherketoneketone is polyetherketoneketone, abbreviated as PEKK. The structural formula is as follows:
The molecular structure of polyaryletherketone contains rigid benzene rings and flexible ether bonds. Therefore, in the polyaryletherketone series, the lower the ratio of ether bonds to ketone groups (E/K) in the molecular chain, the higher its melting point and glass transition temperature. From the structural formula, it can be seen that the ketone group/ether group ratio is as high as 2, which increases the rigidity of the main chain. Therefore, the heat resistance of PEKK is higher than that of PEEK, and it has excellent comprehensive performance.
Performance characteristics:
1. Outstanding high temperature characteristics, heat deflection temperature: pure resin 150-175℃, enhanced resin about 300℃, continuous use temperature 250-260℃, short-time exposure temperature can reach 300℃.
2. Unique combination of strength, stiffness, impact resistance and wear resistance, high stiffness, tensile and compressive strength, strong but sensitive to dents.
3. Excellent flame retardancy, inherent flame retardancy and low smoke.
4. Low toxicity of smoke.
5. Excellent chemical resistance, resistant to almost all organic and inorganic chemicals (except super corrosive chemicals such as fuming sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and dichloromethane).
6. High dielectric strength, good insulation performance and high breakdown voltage.
7. Excellent barrier properties (CO2, H2S, etc.).
8. Excellent friction resistance and low friction coefficient.
9. Excellent radiation resistance.
10. Suitable for a variety of processing technologies, such as injection molding, extrusion, 3D printing, powder coating, unidirectional prepreg tape, etc., with a wide processing window.
Industry Applications:
Since the 21st century, the demand for high-performance plastics in the aerospace, automotive and electronics industries has continued to grow. PEKK has high strength, high toughness, high stiffness and good heat resistance. PEKK is used in aircraft structural parts, automotive structural parts, industrial machinery and equipment parts, and is also used in the manufacture of various electronic and electrical components. High toughness and good heat resistance are the reasons why it is favored in the aerospace and automotive industries. PEKK combined with 3D printing technology to manufacture parts has a wide range of applications in the aerospace and automotive industries.
PEKK materials are used to make automotive coatings, composite materials and other parts. Automakers are committed to manufacturing lighter parts. PEKK is the choice of various automotive and automotive electronic component manufacturing processes. Coupled with the rapid rise of 3D printing technology, PEKK has been more flexible and widely used. Due to the excellent mechanical properties of PEKK, including high stiffness, high toughness, creep resistance, fatigue resistance and wear resistance, mechanical parts made of (fiber reinforced) PEKK can replace steel in many applications. It is widely used in structural components in the automotive and manufacturing industries, including gears, bushings, friction bearings, shafts, ball valve seals, wear plates, yarn and wire guides, and small precision (rotating) parts.
