In the analytical biochemical industry, the burrs in the holes of PEEK parts have a great impact on the life of analytical testing instruments and test results. They can affect the flow rate and flow of the liquid, or cause pipeline blockage and increased pressure, causing certain instrument accessories to be damaged due to excessive pressure.
Many PEEK valve head products are black in appearance, so the detection and removal of “burrs” is a challenge for production workers and inspectors.
Improvement plan
Colleagues from the Analytical Instrument Division and Quality Assurance Department worked together to formulate and implement the following plans for each department, reducing the occurrence of burrs in the holes of PEEK valve head products and making significant progress in inspection and detection. It prevents the risk of products with burrs flowing out and reduces the risk of failure during customer use.
Production
1. Strictly monitor the life of the tools on the processing machine to ensure that the tools are sharp and reduce burrs caused by tool wear. In addition, custom-made tools with special angles can further reduce burrs.
2. Early stage of production: Use 3D simulation to check the hole position and reflect it in the control program. During processing: Strictly control the depth of the cross hole to avoid burrs caused by being too shallow or too deep.
3. Use the process of first spotting holes and then punching holes, and optimize the processing sequence and positioning tooling to ensure that the intersection of holes is not misaligned and reduce burrs.
4. After machining, use abrasive flow to remove burrs first, and then use dry ice deburring machine to remove burrs again. Make sure that the cross hole position is completely free of burrs.
test
The microscope adds side light detection on the basis of single light source, which can clearly find the size and position of burrs. Every hole of every valve head must be inspected to ensure that every product sent to customers is burr-free.
The analytical and testing instrument industry has relatively high quality requirements for PEEK products, which is a challenge for production and inspection, and also a way to improve self-skills. Every process must be carefully optimized to improve product quality, and contribute to winning more customers and a larger market in the future!
