Junhua PEEK launched the annual 8D project

In order to further improve the quality of Junhua PEEK’ PEEK products, based on the common defects in the production process sorted out in the 2019 annual summary of each department, the company convened the heads of various departments to initiate the 8D project meeting on March 7, 2020.

First, quality engineer Ding Qun combined his experience in quality and process improvement to conduct training on the basic knowledge of 8D, a team-oriented problem-solving method, and explained the specific application of tools commonly used in the 8D working method, such as the 5W2H method. The types and proportions of major process defects in each workshop in 2019 were reported, and General Manager Liu initiated an 8D report on the types of defects that occurred frequently in each workshop, established an 8D team, and analyzed and improved typical shortcomings such as black spot impurities, dimensional tolerances, burrs, and delayed mold delivery in the new product development department. The rules for determining the initiators and group leaders of 8D and the differences between the D0 and D3 stages were also discussed and determined.

The heads of departments attending the meeting also said that when they conducted quality analysis and improvement before, they often had the problem of “treating the symptoms but not the root cause”, with unclear purpose and direction, and the consistency of work needed to be strengthened, which often resulted in half the result with twice the effort. The 8D working method is a team-oriented problem-solving method that focuses on the solution steps and the effectiveness of tools. It is clear and has a significant effect on preventing defects, reducing losses and customer complaints, and achieving continuous improvement. It feels like “we have found the direction all of a sudden.”

After the meeting, General Manager Liu led the 8D team leaders to the workshop to conduct on-site research and confirm the details of each team’s 8D content. They used the 8D working method to continuously improve the quality of Junhua PEEK’ PEEK products and strive to provide customers with better quality PEEK products and application solutions!
