◆ PEEK gear hobbing processing equipment, technology, precision and applicability

PEEK is a special high molecular polymer with the advantages of high temperature resistance, high strength, corrosion resistance, self-lubrication, wear resistance, etc. PEEK gears processed by machining and injection molding are widely used due to their light weight, wear resistance, self-lubrication, low noise, corrosion resistance, etc. In order to better meet customers’ demand for PEEK gear products, our company purchased Y3120CNC2 CNC gear hobbing machine. The specific processing range is as follows:

◆ Principle of PEEK gear hobbing

Gear hobbing is equivalent to the spatial meshing of a pair of staggered helical cylindrical gears. The hob is equivalent to a helical cylindrical gear with a large helical angle and cutting ability. It meshes with the workpiece in a certain speed ratio and completes various tooth profiles such as involute, spline cycloid arc, etc. according to the enveloping (developing) principle. See the figure below:

◆PEEK gear processing accuracy

Our gear hobbing machines are inspected and shipped according to GB/T8064-1998 [Gear Hobbing Machine Precision Inspection] standard. Depending on the size of the gear module, under the conditions of single or double feed precision cutting, the machining accuracy can reach the 7th grade of GB/T10095-2001 <Involute Cylindrical Gear Progress>. Generally, PEEK gear hobbing can reach the 8th to 9th grade of accuracy.

◆PEEK gear processing case

Our gear hobbing machines can process PEEK spur gears, PEEK helical gears (helical gears must be cylindrical), PEEK sprockets, PEEK worm gears, PEEK spline gears, and PEEK products with tooth grooves on the circumference.

◆ Gears that cannot be processed by our machine tools temporarily (can be processed on behalf of others)

Our gear hobbing machines are temporarily unable to process PEEK duplex gears, PEEK bevel gears, and PEEK internal gears. The following specifications of PEEK gears can be processed by other processes such as gear shaping.

◆PEEK mold injection gear case

For PEEK gears with large quantity and not particularly high precision requirements (precision level 9), the injection molding process can also be used.
